The military band tradition in America goes all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Commanders used musicians to boost morale and to communicate. By the late 1940’s Dale Duland of the 1st infantry Division Band would have continued the tradition of music for good moral and celebrating military occasions and ceremonies with the band.
