Many 1st Division units adopted distinctive unit scarves during their time in Vietnam and had them made by local tailors. The 2nd Infantry Regiment chose a black scarf with embroidered numerical designation. Specialist 5 James B. Graham wore this scarf in 1968 while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment. He never washed it after returning home.
