This Flag of The Red Crescent, an aid organization equivalent to the Red Cross and also based in neutral Switzerland, was donated to the museum by former Lieutenant Colonel, and later Brigadier General, David F. Gross. During Operation Desert Storm, LTC Gross was the Commander of Task Force 3-37 Armor. He flew this flag from the radio antenna of his tank at Safwan Airfield during a standoff with Iraqi forces. He had the flag signed by General Norman Schwartzkopf, Commander in Chief, CENTCOM [“Thanks For The Superb Job! / Norman Schwarzkopf (cursive script)].
