Major General Albert H. Smith used this license plate accessory on his car, they were available to 1st Infantry Division veterans after World War II. Albert H Smith Jr. volunteered for military service after graduating from Johns Hopkins University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on July 1, 1940. During his 33 year career in the military, he served in eight campaigns in World War II and three campaigns in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division. For his courageous and dedicated service, he received numerous awards and retired as a Major General. In retirement, he continued to contribute to the Army as a historian, lecturer, and author of two books; The Big Red One at D-Day, 6 June 1944, and The Sicily Campaign-Recollections of an Infantry Company Commander.
