This trench art letter opener was crafted with a copper blade and French bullet by a German prisoner of war. One side of the blade has “World War 14 18” engraved with flowering scroll work. “Made by Germ. Pris” is engraved on the reverse side of the blade. A Maltese cross connects the copper blade to the bullet handle. This piece was collected by Rosamond Barrett during her service as a YMCA canteen worker during World War I.
