This battle-torn flag or guidon flew for a specialized team of 150 engineers who fought with the First Division at Cantigny. Torn by shrapnel, this guidon for Company D, 1st Engineer Regiment flew during the Battle of Cantigny in May 1918. Captain Horace L. Smith commanded the company during the battle and donated the guidon to the museum in 1969.
