United States of America National Flag

The last U.S. national flag flown over the 1st Infantry Division training command at Di-An in the Republic of Vietnam in April 1970. Kenneth J. Stasiak was present the day the flag was removed and saved it from waste disposal. He witnessed an officer carrying the flag to the trash and asked if he could have it instead. He took the flag with him after his transfer to the 18th Engineer Brigade.

This is part of a collection that belonged to Vietnam War veteran Kenneth J. Stasiak, who was a driver with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Infantry Division at Di An, and later the 513th Engineer Company (Dump Truck), 18th Engineers, after the 1st Division rotated home.
