Steel M1917 helmet painted with a First Division insignia and soldier art vignettes, including a Red Cross worker and “Doughnut Lassie” of the Salvation Army. Helmet artwork was popular with soldiers serving on occupation duty. The quality of the artwork suggests either a talented soldier or possibly a local German artist painted this piece.
