Commonly known as an “Adrian” helmet, the French M1915 steel helmet was the first modern head protection. There is a comb or ridge across the crown of the helmet that provides protection as well as covers a hole for ventilation. The rear half of the visor slants outward to provide a degree of neck protection. There is a French Army Artillery branch badge, crossed cannon behind an exploding grenade with the initials ‘R.F.’, on its front. The original exterior color was Horizon Blue, but few traces remain, with mostly bare metal showing.
