The Viet Cong (VC) lacked standardized equipment or regular resupply, so their uniforms and equipment often varied greatly. Every soldier made do with what they had or improvised what they needed from materials at hand. This crude cap was made from felted wool. 1st Lieutenant Charlie R. Lewellen, 26th Infantry Regiment, captured this cap, among other VC items following the destruction of a VC base camp during Operation Attleboro in the fall of 1966.
