On June 8, 1991, 8,000 U.S. troops marched in a parade in Washington D.C. to celebrate the Gulf War victory. Bringing hundreds of thousands of people to the city, the parade included military hardware such as tanks and Apache helicopters and was observed by President George H.W. Bush among others.
SP4 James Colbert was a member of the 5th Field Artillery’s Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion and participated in Desert Storm. He brought the National Victory Celebration Blanket home as a souvenir from the parade.
