These American Red Cross toiletry kits were given to male and female 1st Infantry Division soldiers before their deployment to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield. Packed with everyday essentials, such as toothpaste and a toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, and comb, these sundry bags provided the comforts of home while necessities such as these may be limited. Since its founding in 1881, the American Red Cross has supported and provided relief to the U.S. Military. While its assistance has evolved, simple packages such as these are a reminder to soldiers that those back home are thinking of them.
